Just adding to my list of bands who sound better live than in the studio...

Today I listened to 'Starless Aeon' by Funerary.
Disgustingly depressing funeral doom. I like it.

Twelve minutes of new melodic doom from one of my favourite bands.

Regarding the The Eternal (okay, the The Eternal has got to be right, but it just LOOKS wrong!) song... Daaaaayum, it's like TesseracT and Poisonblack suddenly had a doom baby! Good stuff. I approve. Now if only this was a single I could find on Spotify or Google... I absolutely loved their first album, Absolution, and this one is even better! The mood is somber and doomy, but the tightly woven thunderous riffs had me grinning like a little kid on Christmas. At work. While Absolution was classic x stoner doom, this one did a more classic rock doom style with touches of funeral doom and added WHICH TOTALLY WORKS. Excellent, most excellent! Rating:

Doomy blackened deathdoom: Failure, Subside by Départe. I'm on a local music binge or something and I'm basically just going to blast my ears with this, The Eternal, and Ne Obliviscaris until... okay, until I get lonely for Poisonblack again.

Ne Obliviscaris is coming out with a new album this year. Just listened to: Isolate by MesarthimSpacey doomblack metal backed by synths. It sounds like Caladan Brood or Summoning...in space! Soaring, dark, and spacey. I like it! I switched to Google instead of Spotify, because I got sick and tired of being limited to bookmarking (BOOKMARKING, not even downloading...but that's a whole 'nother rant) only 10k songs, and as far as I can tell, Spotify has outright said they're not fixing it. May not be a big deal for some, but it is for me. Kind of a pain looking through my saved list, scrolling through hundreds of playlists, and then loading a separate app to go through what I own just to decide what to listen to. Stuff tends to get lost and buried easily. I like that Google integrates uploaded/owned music and whatever you save to your library, so everything shows up in one place. There doesn't seem to be a limit to bookmarking, and I don't think I'll be hitting that 50k upload limit anytime soon. :-D

I've decided Steve needs more metal, so until I come across something new I want to listen to I'm going to post the music videos/single for things I listen to regularly. First up, Kamelot's 'My confession'.

Just a friendly reminder that once upon a time in the world of metal, this happened...
Warning: contains dance moves.

The song I shouldn't listen to because it goes with an idea I'm trying to convince myself to put on hold...

A new (at least to me) Seventh Wonder song! This is a bonus track off the DVD/CD set 'Welcome to Atlanta Live 2014'.
After trying Kamelot's 'Haven' again and still not liking it, it's nice to be reminded that Tommy Karevik really can sing without the autotune.
Full album is on Spotify here:
