August is only a few days away now, which means it's time to start thinking (and talking) about our plans for the coming month.
So far, the staff have the following suggestions:
* A month-long 'Consistency Challenge' - set yourself a daily goal (planning/writing/editing related) and try to achieve 100% consistency in August. Because we're kind, generous staff people, every week you're allowed to delete your two worst days from your score. Finally, a weekend-friendly consistency challenge .
* A three-month (August/September/October) expansion of Ellen Brock's Novel Boot Camp, which ran during July. Our plan is to expand the 'homework exercises' to have three paths - a planning exercise, a writing exercise and an editing exercise. By the end of 'Stevian Boot Camp' (which totally needs a cool name), participants will aim to have either a complete novel plan, a complete first draft or an edited draft. We're going to try to get the first couple of homework tasks posted before the start of August as a sort of sample - watch this space. Or at least some space where you're likely to see new threads.
----
So anyway, the usual thing. Come up with something sort of answer-shaped for the following not exactly question-shaped things:
1. What are you thinking about doing in August? (Hint: The 'August Is Coming' Challenge might help you answer this one.)
2. Are you interested in the suggestions for activities to run in August? Do they fit with your existing plans or does our timing suck and you really want something else to happen?
3. Any suggestions for other stuff you'd like to see happen? Flash fiction challenges, blogging challenges, drawing challenges, reading challenges or anything crazy you like. Try to keep it generally fiction-related, though. (Note: Clever suggestions may be interpreted as volunteering to help, but don't let that scare you off.)
