Just found this thread, thought it'd be fun to join in. Right now I'm listening to "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC because it happens to be on the radio. I rarely listen to the radio though, it just happened to be on when I hopped in the car. Lately I've been blaring Fall Out Boy's "Save Rock and Roll." What a great album. I love FOB. I listen to a lot of genres, but punk and hard rock are my favorites. A7x, Metallica, Skillet, Green Day, etc. When I'm writing, I like easy listening, coffee shop techno. By that I mean, light instrumental music with elements of techno/electronica, with a coffee house vibe. I'll post a link to a good example in a moment. Basically anything on YouTube that says "music for concentration." Edit: here's a link. www.youtube.com/shared?ci=8nEJuo66RIk

I'm feeling random today, so I'm listening to this: Mainly because I can't find a good version of the music video for 'sunsets'. This seems to be the only one on the entire web: vimeo.com/36949978

Song from the SeaIt is a fan song from the Undertale compilation album "Songs from Mt. Ebott". It's so relaxing to write to, it's the main theme of memories for the MC, and it actually belongs to a very mysterious character in the game. And, those last two facts may or may not be related...

I'm not exactly sure what you call this. Retro/80s sci-fi techno? It's mostly instrumental, so good background noise, whatever it is. 'Aeternus' and 'Escape Velocity' by Dynatron. It's 'pay what you like' on Bandcamp at the moment.

Gloomy, doomy, and strangely beautiful.

I heard this on a TV show this evening and sort of liked it, so:
do you remember when we were younger then? caught up in innocence I think about before memories of it all lost in deep when I hear you call
you know what you need for your sanity
so don't stop dancing in the darkness you should be proud of your own kind of madness you're the one who found it
back and forth til you feel it like the beat of a drum and you know everyone will want some so don't stop dancing in the darkness
it's like a waterfall and now I hear it all it's coming closer now there is another kind promises in my mind beauty was left behind
you know what you need for your sanity
so don't stop dancing in the darkness you should be proud of your own kind of madness you're the one who found it
back and forth til you feel it like the beat of a drum and you know everyone will want some so don't stop dancing in the darkness
is that the sound of a running stream or the sound of a washing machine? is that a portrait of you as a child or a picture of the rainbow wild?
you know what you need sanity
so don't stop dancing in the darkness you should be proud of your own kind of madness you're the one who found it
back and forth til you feel it like the beat of a drum and you know everyone will want some so don't stop dancing in the darkness

Neoclassical progressive rock, apparently? 'Lighthouse' by Iamthemorning. It's mostly piano with soprano vocals, with occasional guitar, drums and a few other instruments. It's beautiful and dark and somehow exactly what I wanted to listen to today.

Breaking Benjamin! <3
I've had this on repeat for days on end. Chills down my spine, this video. This is totally Iolanthe's song.
I'm so freaking stoked for the new album.
Can you tell I love Breaking Benjamin?

Um, the last thing I listened to while writing was 'Rich' by Maren Morris. It has no correlation to anything in the novel I'm working on at the moment, like zero. But I loved the beat of it and it got me into writing the novel some more so hey it's a good song. (Anything is a good song I suppose if it helps get you back into your novel a little bit >>)
