Extra note: you'll need 10 posts before you can get into the short story challenge. There's a 'Share Your Work' board that's supposed to magically appear wen your post count gets to 10. Hope you like it here, waywardsam.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I`m definitely going to look into the short story exercise, it sounds interesting. Also, this month I`m going to sort through all my ideas, things I`ve started working on but did not continue, unfinished rough drafts, etc. I want to pick one and make a loose plan for it, than actually write it starting from the end of April or the beginning of May, so that I have a complete draft of a novella at least 30, 000 words in lenght by the end of spring. I`ll probably also work on several short stories in this time. Hope that this kind of self-challenge is acceptable here. )

Hey Sarah. Glad to see you back! If you want to reboot your writing routine, you might want to consider the self evaluation exercise that we're doing right now. Still not too late to join! If you do, be sure once you're done filling out the form to head over to the Part II thread. Also, feel free to post in your PPT talking about the things that are blocking you. It'll help us get a better idea of what you're looking for.

Michael here!
I'm new to this forum, as I'm sure you can tell by my posting an intro here. I found this place by searching for NaNoWriMo-like events throughout the year because I don't want to wait until November to start writing.
A bit about me: - I enjoy music from nearly every genre, but I mostly listen to hard rock and classical (depending on the mood). - I play guitar, and I like to pretend I'm good. - I'm 23 years old. - I'm a professional portrait photographer by day, and a masked vigilante by night. - Hobbies include watching TV/movies, reading (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), photography, cubing (I can solve a 3x3 in just under a minute so far), cooking and of course writing. - I've never written a complete novel. I've written a lot of plot bunnies, and I've written quite a few short stories, but never anything longer than ten chapters.
I've just decided that I'm going to write a novel in the next 30 days. I know it's not actually quite time for a writing month, but my birthday is September 28 so I want to write as much as I can and hopefully I'll have a novel as a birthday present to myself.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

Welcome to Steve, maawolfe36 ! I don't think we've had a masked vigilante around these parts before. I like the idea of a first draft for your birthday. Boring admin-type stuff: make sure you read the General Forum Rules, the FAQs and the PPT Rules. You can access most of the forum right now, but there's a critique/feedback section called 'Show Your Work' that's locked until you reach 10 posts. After that you can read and reply to threads in that section, but you won't be able to start threads of your own until you reach 25 posts. You should also check out the Spectacular September Stuff thread, which is where we're currently planning our challenges and activities for September. At the moment, we have the following plans: * An ongoing flash/snippet challenge where we put our characters in mundane situations just for fun. * A reading game where we try to read every day and then share something from the day's reading. * Probably some kind of planning/outlining/NaNo Prep activity. A 'first draft in 30 days' challenge would fit nicely on that list. Something for everyone.

Hey, I'm Dec. I'm a twenty-something into just about anything learnable, who likes art and, obviously, writing.
I mostly write fanfic, and have a regularly updated Undertale fanfic called Kill Your Heroes. As for publishable stuff, I'm also working on a memoir that (for better or worse, really) deals with some of the things I'm going through right now.
I've won NaNoWriMo before (or was it Camp? I can't remember.), and have participated in some other writing challenges. It's a bit random wether or not I'll win, but I'm hoping right now to get ready for November and knock it out of the park.
I'm also interested in stenography, although I'm not all that great with keeping up with my studies. I'm hoping one day to become a speed demon novelist, using written and machine shorthand to jot out plots like nobody's business. I also want to make games to teach people how to write it themselves in a fun way, but that's a recent, pie-in-the-sky dream -- I don't even know how to code, nonetheless how to build a complicated game like that.
Anyways, let's get started on getting ready for November!

Welcome to Steve, Dec ! You're just in time to join in our NaNo prep activities! You should also check out the Outstanding October thread, where October discussion is still taking place. Currently happening: * October/NaNo Prep challenges - a thread where I'm posting a new planning/preparation activity every day and hoping others will join in with some activities of their own. * Game of Books - daily(ish) chatter about what we're reading. There's also a whole lot of stuff we haven't been keeping up with very well or have run in previous months but not set up for this month - daily pot bunnies, weekly writing prompts, WriDays and so forth. Oh, and there's an ongoing Self-Evaluation Challenge ( part 1, part 2, part 3) that started a while back but is always open to new participants. If you have any questions, suggestions, comments etc. look for a staff member - Siana Blackwood and Jᴀy V. Aꜱᴛᴇʀ 💀🐍 - and ask away!

*last minute introduction*
Hullo,
I'm Clayres, or Clay if you like, a twenty-something year old human being that decided to join this year's NaNo event just last week, mainly because of the sudden urge to do something, anything Undertale related. I found the forum because someone sent me the link *looks at no one in particular*.
I'm both a fanfiction and original writer, that is, when I actually get around to write things down, really...^^' Which NaNo is the perfect opportunity for!
So, I'm writing an Undertale fanfic simply called "over." this year, that means, I can't get distracted by the game this time around like last year, right? Right?!

Welcome to Steve, Clayres! Boring but important admin stuff: make sure you read the General Forum Rules, the FAQs and the PPT Rules. After that you can read and reply to threads in that section, but you won't be able to start threads of your own until you reach 25 posts. You should also check out the November Notions thread, where we're talking about NaNo-related activities and I think a few people are planning word wars. If you're writing fanfiction of a game, does that mean playing the game counts as research?
