Was I a fool? Thought it was cool.
We just had this idea
I don't know why, I can't explain
And I'm lost in darkness
I really did try, still don't know why
Somehow I lost my way
but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
(Based on the first verse of 'seemed like a good idea (at the time)' by John Farnham.)

I don't really know what to say about this, but I randomly thought of that line about how it seemed like a good idea at the time and ended up doing the rest of the verse. Then I decided that since I'm not the only one who sort of stumbled to a halt in the challenge, maybe we could have a thread to talk about it.
Random theory: all of us got to our typical 'this sucks' point in writing - the point where we're most likely to have second thoughts and abandon a story. The combination of it being a 'silly' challenge and being a very high-pressure 'everyone is going to look at this and know how much I suck' challenge meant we were most likely to fall into our most self-sabotaging patterns of writerly behaviour.
Or am I the only one who's been finding the challenge knee-shakingly terrifying?
The thing is, SSSS has produced a lot of great ideas and entertaining stories. We should finish them - or at least something like them - because they're awesome.
So then we get to the probable best use for this thread. (I mean, unless everyone just wants to post 'SSSS blues' song lyrics or something .) What I'm thinking is that we discuss what went wrong and come up with some ideas for doing something other than just abandoning the stories.
For example, there's this big writing event coming up...
Okay, so an attempt at questions, which you don't have to answer but might help with thinking about things:
* What do you think was the main reason why you stopped posting episodes/chapters of your own story?
* Do you still have any kind of desire to write it?
* If you still want to write, do you just feel like you need a kick in the pants, changes to the format or something like that?
* Again if you still want to write the story, do you wish you could change or rewrite some of what you've already done? Do you just need a kick in the pants?
* If you no longer want to write the story, are there bits of it you like enough to incorporate into something else or do you consider the entire thing a waste of time and wish you'd never started?
* Regardless of how you answered the questions about your own story, do you have any wacky ideas that might help other Stevians continue their stories?
...but seriously, I don't mind if this is just a venting/gloom thread.
