So, we have this reading challenge going on in May/June. Because... I don't know, reasons... we're also going to have a discussion thread. Things you can do in this thread: * Review your latest reads * (Figuratively) throw books at the wall * Share links to books, short stories, cool articles/blog posts and other stuff that can be read online for free * Give and receive recommendations * General genre, format etc. discussion that relates to what we're reading
So far this month I've read a free romance I'm only counting because if I don't, then the time spent reading it was totally wasted. Making you feel sorry for the supposed antagonist, then solving everyone else's problems by killing him = not cool. Also, things that really annoys me: * Physical intimacy being the only kind of connection the characters ever make * Break-ups caused by stupid misunderstandings * Alleged soul mates believing the evil, lying ex instead of calmly asking their partner for the true story Edit: I condensed a worryingly long rant into a short list. It's always a nasty surprise when you discover something has been making you a lot angrier than you thought, isn't it? I've been trying to read romance to improve my romantic subplot skills, but I'm basically just ending up with a list of things I hate. So... I don't suppose anyone has recommendations for books with good romantic subplots?
