In keeping with tradition, October is probably going to be a sort of 'NaNo Prep' month here on Steve. So, in terms of NaNo Prep...
We'll start with the two big questions:
1. Are you doing NaNo? 2. If so, what do you need by 0:00 on November 1st?
PS - If you're not doing NaNo this is a good time to talk about what you're doing instead and what Steve activities you'd like to see in October/November to help you with your goals.

1. Yup. 2. 1/3 of my draft done.
I'm writing starting in October. Hopefully if I get the beginning done I can use NaNo to get over the sagging middle.
Maybe a daily sub challenge? You have to submit something new every day - an idea, a word count, something. Try to post something on your PPT every day. This is with the idea that our prep should pick up the pace now that it's October.

1. Yes, of course! 2. Too many things... all the things! I think I'd like to try this prepping challenge.

1. Yes. 2. I guess 1/3 of Frozen Tear done and avoiding writing myself into a corner with Immortality. I don't actually know how to avoid writing myself into a corner, though, because I never know it's a corner until I've already run into it. ----- *looks at Danielle Wayland's prepping challenge link* *backs away slowly* *looks at it again from a safe distance* We could probably make a Steve variant on that. Anyone participating in that challenge follows its rules, but there could be other paths for non-planners and people who are already writing. Same kind of schedule, but different activities. E.g. a 'writing' path might be 'write x words per day, y days a week'. A 'post something on your PPT every day in October' challenge sounds like fun. Can we reward ourselves/each other with eye candy? Hmm... combine all those ideas? Have a challenge where at the start of the month we sign up to do a particular thing 5 or 6 days per week for the full month, giving ourselves image/video/etc. prizes every day we post a 'did the thing today' report?

I have an idea for this. I've mentioned it on the admin board but not here. I was thinking for Spectober we could do a challenge like DPBs except broader, where we agree to submit something every day. It can be a character sheet, a short scene, whatever. We seem to have a mix of writing and planning, some doing both separately or trying to own through writing.
I think HM's challenge could easily fit into that format: just do one activity per day. Similarly, 30 days of worldbuilding could fit too. I'm going to strike out into the wild and do my own activities, except I'm going to go straight for the writing in order to plan.
For the Steve challenge, we don't even need to have separate paths based on activity. The commitment is just one deliverable per day, or 5-6 per week, of any kind. That way you can jump in no matter what stage you are at, you agent forced into one of you're taking a hybrid approach, and you can still win even if you change your approach, word count, whatever in the middle.
In addition, we could collect random word generators or prompt sources. I don't think we need to have enforced or scheduled prompts or anything, but we could have one place to put them, so anyone who thinks of their own or finds a good source can drop them in, like the motivation thread.
Also, daily rewards sound great to me!
