You know the thing where time suddenly feels like it's slipped forward a couple of notches in one go? Well, apparently it's May tomorrow. Well... a little longer for the rest of you? Timezone-related conversations are never going to stop being awkward, are they? I'm trying to figure out what I'll be doing tomorrow and everyone else is like, "Yeah, whatever. Plenty of time to think."
At any rate, May is coming and at some point in the next few days we'll all be figuring out what to do with a new month.
...and this thread is probably going to go the same way as all the other planning threads, where we toss around a few ideas but ultimately settle back into our usual gloomy lack of progress. I don't know about anyone else, but I really feel like it's time to make an attempt at breaking some of these familiar patterns.
So, my idea is this: I'm going to start threads for a couple of challenges I sort of want to do and the rest of you can join in or not, depending on your own plans. If the challenges don't suit you, I encourage you to start other challenges on the same sort of arrangement.
I'll also post the usual list of external challenges anyone can join.
May Challenges on Steve
Goal-Setting Challenge - Update your WIP list and figure out a list of achievable goals for May. Runs April 30th-May 3rd
May 2016: Goals and Progress - set your own goals, work towards reaching them by May 31st.
I also started an ongoing planning and editing exercises/challenges thread.
External Events
Story A Day in May - write a new story every day
#MayWritingChallenge - write 500 words a day
MayNoWriMo on Absolute Write - set your own goals (link coming soon?)
Sunday night flash fiction challenge on Absolute Write - write a story from a prompt in 90 minutes
Friday Flash on Terribleminds - usually, write <1k to a prompt/title/picture (it varies)
