Not sure if the rest of yas are interested in comic books, but I feel it's a fandom that deserves a thread. I used to collect tons of different Marvel and DC titles back in the day (X-Men, Batman, Avengers, etc), then fell out of it for a while. I've recently had my love rekindled, all the fault of the owner of our local game/hobby store. I'd gone in that day, innocently enough, to just pick up my pre-ordered box of Born of the Gods MTG cards, when he handed me the Rat Queens TP to peak through. I was stunned by the amazing artwork paired with highly entertaining story-telling that was just chock full of geek-dom references and memes. Issue 6 just came out, and I seriously can not wait for 7. Now, there's going to be a cartoon based off of them! I am so stoked!!! Not to mention the fanart!
I have a ton of other comic titles that I've been recently introduced to, that I'm actively collecting now. If you're interested, they are well worth the read!
Saga, Volumes 1 - 3 are out, and issue 19 came out this month. This is a beautiful space opera/fantasy story, though it is for mature audiences due to content.
Revival is an urban noir that brings a new spin to zombies. I picked up a reprint of issue 1, and then had to pick up Volume 1. Anxiously waiting for Volume 2, since it will be a bit too expensive to pick up the individual issues to catch me up to current... If you enjoy zombie-theme, this is the perfect read.
Deadly Class, another title from Image, is a sort-of retro story about a kid who's inducted into possibly the most awesome and freaky highschool to ever exist: King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts, a school to train the world's best assassins. Great artwork and inking, and engaging characters.
Serenity is the continuation of the Firefly (hmmm... Firefly should have a fandom thread all its own...) storyline after their cancellation by the evil network which shall not be named. Issue 5 just came out, and I love love love Dan Dos Santos' cover! Of course, Jayne is my favorite character, but still, ya gotta admit, the artwork is AMAZING!!!
Ok, I have more, but is bed time now.
