Unfortunately it turned out just like a Brian Jacques novel: the guards distracted the otters with a Feast!!! and brought out their most terrifying doom monster: a small white kitten named Cthulhu.

Fortunately, Cthulhu had recently come down with a cough and couldn't take two steps without hacking out a lung.

Unfortunately, Cthulhu's chest turned out to be bigger on the inside and... well, let's just say Emily and the Otters had to run really, really fast.

(Let me guess, somebody's just been watching Doctor Who!)
Fortunately, Emily and the Otters could run really, really fast, and they made it safely to a sheltered cave on dry land.

Unfortunately, this feast made the otters really sleepy and they curled up for a nice nap.

Fortunately, nothing bad happened, and when the otters woke up, they were back into peak condition.

Unfortunately, CATHULHU, eater of souls and Elder God of hairballs, came screaming out of the sky from nowhere and landed with a bestial shriek in the midst of the otters, along with, probably impossible but quite likely improbably, eighty bloody chocolate eyeballs.
