Hi srhevans! You might find it a bit quiet around here these days. A lot of us have joined CampNano too, and I think we may be spending more time there than here. There is a thread here for those that want to participate, and I think that way you can get an invite to our Cabin. It's a fun place! Unicorns, chocolate (naturally), and music are currently in the tent.

Welcome to Steve, srhevans! If you haven't already done it, check out the ' Get Started' page (also found through the 'start here' button in the menu at the top of the page). That page tells you a bit more about how Steve works. You can also post questions in this thread, in the Feedback, Problems and Questions board or send a personal message to the admins, Siana Blackwood and Jᴀy V. Aꜱᴛᴇʀ 💀🐍. Also, check out the list of July Challenges. We're having a different challenge for each day of the week: * Mundane Monday Motivation. * Tear It Up Tuesday. * Worldbuilding Wednesday. * Thor's Day Thursday. * Friday Flash. * Weekend Wrikend. Um... I'm sure there's other things you should know... Oh, wait - this one is important: we have a 'share your work' section of Steve that we use for some writing challenges (e.g. the Silly Stevian Story Share and flash prompts), but it has restricted access - you need to have posted 10 times to be able to get in and read/comment on stuff, and 25 posts before you'll be allowed to start threads of your own. We've never actually tested this out on a new member, though, so if you experience any hiccups the feedback would be greatly appreciated. ...and yes, Steve is pretty quiet at the moment. The combination of Camp and work doesn't seem to leave us with much energy for socialising.

Hello everyone, I'm LaLoca and I've been lurking for a while. I love to write and have lots of ideas I have been working on, but I have a hard time completing my projects. I have never won a NaNo (let's face it, November is not the best month for finding writing time), but I did just recently finish the first draft of a novel. Now the editing begins I am a teacher and with no schedule in the summer, I find it really hard to keep up with my daily writing practice. I am looking forward to trying some challenges and getting back into a regular writing practice.

We're sort of at the end of the July/Camp NaNo events right now so it doesn't seem like there's much happening, but the admins would like to know a bit about everyone's (writing-related) plans for August and the rest of the year. We're trying to come up with a set of challenges that encourage everyone to stick at the things they really want to do, so the more feedback the better (she says, looking at her own unwritten response). For example, if you're looking at editing that first draft, you might be interested in exercises and challenges to help with that. Congratulations on finishing a draft, by the way . Not very many people ever get that far, so it's a huge achievement. What's your novel about?

Thanks for all the info, Siana. I have visited the Get Started page. In fact I've been staring at it and thinking about getting started for at least a week now. I tend to procrastinate a little.
I just started my PPT where you can read about all of my projects, but the draft I just finished is about a conspiracy theorist trying to save the world from reptilian aliens.
Now I am going to visit that link to discuss my August writing plans.

Welcome laloca! As Siana said, activity should start picking up again in August when we start a new round of challenges next month. Right now we're trying to tailor them to what everyone will actually be working on, so if you know what kind of activity you need to do (e.g. editing/writing/planning), be sure to mention it in the thread, and we'll post challenges accordingly! That's awesome that you finished a draft already. I'm going to ask the same thing. What's your novel about?

...the draft I just finished is about a conspiracy theorist trying to save the world from reptilian aliens. OMG, that sounds awesome! And welcome! I also just finished my first draft last month. I told myself I'd give myself a month away, while I try to plan out the sequel. (Good thing too, cuz things in my first one have to change!) Beginning August 1, it's REVISION! I suggest you give yourself a specific date you'll start. Then, as this site is all about this, post the date here, maybe in your PPT. It makes you feel some friendly peer pressure to follow through. Let me emphasize the friendly part of that. People here are very friendly, very supportive and positive. If you need a cheering section to keep you going, you've come to the right place!

*opens thread* *alien seems to be in sync with the song I'm listening to* ---- So that's potentially 3 people doing revision/editing type stuff during August, then? ( laloca, monica4567 & Siana Blackwood)

Siana Blackwood4. I think I posted about this in the August thread. I'm editing/revising at least a short story.

monica4567 Thank you. I had a lot of fun writing it. Siana Blackwood I probably will not start editing at the beginning of the month, but I do expect to start editing at some point during the month.

Hi everyone! I'm pretty sure I've been on Steve before, but I can't really find any trace of it!
Anyways, I'm RJA, a long lost WriMo ^_^ I've done a WriYe in both 2011 and 2012 and wrote 500k words both years. Unfortunately I hit massive writers block after that... I have done NaNoWriMo -or at least tried- since. I've been infected with the NaNo-virus since 2009, and this year I'm finally doing some not-November writing again! *so proud* I've done CampNaNo in July this year and now I want to do some writing in September and see if I can keep challenging myself outside of thie original NaNoWriMo
Er - bout me, well I'm a 27yo from The Netherlands. Dropped out of college, worked in a bar for nearly two years and right now I'm looking for a "grown up" job. I love to write -obviously- and read -if I can find some extra time-, but also watch movies and TV-shows, having fun with my friends -road trips, shopping, nights out-. Due to a busted knee I gave up Salsa dancing and fitness, but I still have my two ponies -literally my babies- and occasionally go horse back riding.
My writing is mostly YA, chicklit, romance, drama, but lately it's gotten a hint of (urban) fantasy. Before November hits us, I like to work on two half developed plots/WiP's and I stumbled upon an old story I'd like to rewrite.

Hey RJA! I think I remember you from back when everyone used to forum hop every month. Glad you made it back! You probably find Steve familiar because I think you used to be on NaNoPlotMo. Steve is its evil twin and it's run by the same people. :-) Be sure to check out the Get Started page ( see menu bar) to see how things work, and head on over to Personal Progress Threads to create your PPT, where you can declare your goals and talk about your progress. Also check out the challenges board. The big ones for now are the Consistency, I Have a Plan - Attack! and the Silly Dtevian Story Shares. Felt h last one though there is a minimum list limit to access that board - 10 to read and 25 to participate. All of these challenges can be done this month or for longer. IHAPA it's actually an extended one that lasts until the end of the year. Be sure to let myself or Siana Blackwood one if you have any questions!

Okay, ehm, hello there everyone! I found this forum through another Nanowriter's signature, so here I am, without really knowing what here entails, tjoho.
My name is Frida, you can also find me under TwistedRiver on Nano. I already have my idea for this years Nano and I am crossing toes and fingers for that this will be the first to reach 50k words. It is fantasy, as that is my absolutely favorite genre, but I would always like to try my hands at crime/mystery/sci-fi some time in the future. Ehrm, I'm from Norway, but I am currently living and studying in The Netherlands, for a bachelor in Arts & Culture, with my current subject being a minor in creative writing. I love dinosaurs and magic, and J.K. Rowling, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Pratchet, Rick Riordan, Jostein Gaarder, Edith Wharton, and so on and so on. I like to listen to music when I write, as that seems to intensify the importance of the sitatuon somehow, but it has to be the right sound to the music, so I'm quite picky.
So yeah, that is me in a very few words! 'Ello!
