Yup. Basically am unofficial continuation of NaNo for those who need it.
Yeah, sometimes it takes a couple of days to confirm, but it's usually not long.

Okay, so we probably need to do one of two things: 1. Set an official 'no mention of exactly what we're writing for SS-SFF-SS' rule. 2. Make a list of participating Stevians and all send in a request not to be assigned to each other. ----- In vaguely related news, there's a message from shark in the shoutbox saying that JanNoWriMo has been resurrected at jannowrimo.boards.net/

Right, I vote #2. Steve is a writers' support group! Kind of defeats the purpose if we can't at least use the forum as it was intended. Also, from the past, it's been pretty hard to talk about story woes without revealing the actual story, and something ALWAYS got revealed. :-) At present we have: Siana Blackwood Jᴀy V. Aꜱᴛᴇʀ 💀🐍 maawolfe36 Granted, this means we can't guess each other in the guessing thread! | _____________________ / \ | | <------- TO ALL MEMBERS! | | | \_____________________/

We still have 1.5 weeks to go before sign-ups close for Sisyphus on the 21st. Now you may be thinking, I can't write a short story right now! Well, guess what dear Stevians, this isn't just any short story, because guess what, at the end, you get a present - a story someone wrote just for you! Don't know if this will fit in? Don't know what to write about? You will get a prompt to start off of. Find one on the sign up thread that catches your eye? Rep Cobra and request it! Burnt out from NaNo? Don't worry, you have until February 28th to finish your story. Note: If everything goes as it has in the past, this deadline is set in GLUE. If enough people need more time, they extend the deadline. Don't know if you can write an entire short story in that time? Don't have much time to write? There is NO minimum length requirement. In the past, people have written one-page flash. They've also written novellas. Worried you won't have time to clean it up and make it look pretty? You don't have to! All that matters is that your first draft is done, typos, plot holes, and all. It doesn't matter if it took three weeks or one day. It's more about participation, fun, and writing personalized just for one person, rather than throwing literary greatness into an uncaring void. This year, they've also added a rule that if you don't get a chance to complete it, you would send in what you have and then work it out with your giftee as to when you'll send the completed story. Worried your giftee will hate it? Everyone worries about this, but it's unlikely. In the past, most people have been genuinely thrilled that someone took the time out to write a story just for them. Wondering if you should do it? Yes, you should! If you miss NaNo, this is very much like it, except with more Princess Bride references. Getting your prompt on Christmas is like waiting for NaNo to begin. Then getting your story at the end is like Christmas all over again! Once you sign up, please be sure to rep Cobra with your affirmation that you have read the rules, promise to provide a story, email, and the user names of participating Steve members, with a note that you don't want to be assigned to us.

Extra note: If you're still on the fence after reading the sign-up thread and feel like seeing a couple of Sisyphus stories might give you more of an idea what sort of thing would be okay to write, ADOZ and I have some of our previous stories in the SYW section here on Steve. Blank by ADOZ. The Hero and The Wrong End of the Rainbow by Siana.

Yum.
Two more days until the Sisyphus sign ups close, y'all! There's still time!
On a personal note, this is probably my favorite challenge of the year, next to NaNo. If you haven't checked it out already, I can't recommend it enough!

Better than NaNo, in my opinion. With Sisyphus, the story is more important than the wordcount, so you don't have that dangerous incentive to keep pushing when you know you've made a mistake.

So I just saw on Twitter that NaNoWriMo is working on a year-round goal tracker, which you can find in the 'My NaNoWriMo' section of your NaNo profile.

Just so you all know, there are at least 3 bugs with the new NaNo goal trackers.
1. You can edit someone else's progress. (Please don't. >.<) 2. They have one less bar than they should. 3. Progress bars show up one day ahead of where they should. Updating on day 1 shows up as the day 2 bar, updating on day 2 shows up as the the Day 3 bar, etc.
