At the moment, only the 'Announcements' and 'Forum FAQs' sections are visible to not-logged-in users. But, only the parts where we talk about our specific projects or post excerpts of our own work need to be password-protected (this is to protect first electronic rights, so not negotiable). However, that leaves us with... * Feedback, Problems, and Questions * General Writing Discussion * Bucket O' Challenges * Resources * Games and Procrastination * Random. Fandom. Tangent. ...all possibly able to be exposed. Having more boards visible would probably make Steve more friendly-seeming. There are several visibility options available - they can be made fully readable without logging in (e.g. the Announcements/FAQ sections of Steve), visible but not accessible (for an example of this have a look at NaNoFiMo, or they can be only visible to logged-in members (the current state of most Steve boards). I'm also not sure about the Home page. While I like the idea of it, I've bookmarked the 'Forum' view on my own computer because clicking past the Home page every single time is annoying, so I tend to forget to update the current month and it makes Steve look abandoned. I might be able to come up with some kind of 'dynamic content' for there that updates without me having to remember to do anything. Would that help? Should we just shift/abandon the page? So, thoughts from the members? Do you think making more of Steve visible would be an improvement, and if so which sections would you be comfortable revealing?

Just to add - I've included a poll in this now so you can answer without having to post.

Just letting everyone know that I've opened up a bit more of the forum. Opinions?

Something I hadn't thought about with this: Daily Plot Bunnies are viewable by non-logged-in visitors. Should I re-hide the Challenges board or move the DPBs?

Eeeeesh. I forgot about the new visibility. Leaving it open would mean we'd have to create a new challenge board for private stuff and nobody's* going to remember which one to post in.
We could leave it visible so people know it's there but they can't read anything in it.

Changed it so the board is visible but the threads aren't.
