Title says it all, I guess.
So anyway, it's suddenly October and I think we're supposed to be doing NaNo Prep or something? I'm just going to list all the NaNo Prep resources I can quickly find and hope for the best:
* The NaNoWriMo YWP Workbooks are downloadable as PDF and do a good job of walking you through creating a simple plot.
* The NaNoWriMo blog seems to be posting NaNo Prep activities most days.
* The NaNo Prep board on the NaNoWriMo forum basically has more planning activities than my mostly-pantser brain can even begin to process.
* For people who mostly want to concentrate on worldbuilding, there's the classic 30 Days of WorldBuilding workbook.
* There's apparently going to be a Get Ready For NaNo workshop on Fiction University.
* Possibilities from the Steve archives: Daily Plot Bunnies, Flash/Snippets, a collection of stuff in last October's prep thread,
* My October plan is basically to look through my pile of abandoned and/or incomplete projects and try to fall back in love with one of them. I have no idea how to do that, and none of these prep-related things seem to be what I need. I have this 'plan of attack' I came up with a week or so ago, so if I can figure out how to actually get started that might be what I do. In that plan, October would be sort of play time - doing random exercises, writing side stories or sneaking off to alternate universes and so on. So, it's somewhat likely that I'll end up posting a series of random one-off challenges in that sort of style.
So, basically the theme of October is going to be planning, preparation, and play-time. Or whatever. I'm assuming everyone is going to attempt NaNoWriMo, because that's the way it's worked out in previous years even when we've all said we're definitely not doing it. I should probably ask first, shouldn't I?
Okay, questions, which everyone should answer:
1. Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? Why or why not?
2. Any plans for October?
